Surface Protection Program for Education

How to Reduce the Frequency of Student Illnesses
As you know so well, student illnesses begin soon after the school year begins. The illnesses spread rapidly. And a few weeks or months later, they repeat. The lost time hampers academic programs and can undermine athletic programs. It complicates school management. Eventually, many teachers and parents also become ill. Everyone’s productivity suffers.
There are two reasons why illnesses spread so easily in a school: (1) Students tend to touch each other more than adults do; and (2) students often touch germ-laden “hot spots” and then touch their own mouth or eyes. Common “hot spots” include door handles, railings, banisters, light-switch plates, classroom desks, lockers, tables in cafeterias, telephones, common-use keyboards, and school-owned sports equipment such as football and hockey pads. (Even antibiotic-resistant “super bugs” such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, have been found in some sports equipment.)
Accumulations of germs (microbes, including bacteria, viruses, algae and mold) in these places cause cross-contamination that spreads illness from student to student. Students are continually moving from classroom to classroom to cafeteria to sports. This heavy traffic causes a higher likelihood of cross-contamination than does the traffic in an office or a factory, where people move around much less frequently.
Most janitorial cleaning methods don’t prevent cross-contamination. Our Surface Protection Program does. This is an affordable, biological-based (green) surface protection method. The Surface Protection Program uses advanced technologies to protect furniture, fixtures, electronic equipment and athletic equipment – and keep them germ-free for up to three months or longer.
By scientifically attacking cross-contamination, the Surface Protection Program provides a much cleaner, healthier, more-productive school environment for students, teachers, administrators, and visiting parents – and for the janitorial service workers who do the cleaning. The Surface Protection Program can also reduce your janitorial expenses, through more efficient use of manpower and materials (especially disinfectants).
Summary of Services
Our Surface Protection Program includes:
1. ATP testing of furniture, fixtures and portable items in your school buildings, to determine contamination levels.
2. Disinfect all surfaces with EPA approved Level 4 disinfectant SNiPER, an environmentally friendly, non-toxic disinfectant that kills all active bacteria and germs, and more importantly has been tested to kill spores of all well-known contaminants such as staph, MRSA, CDiff and more. We apply this using an electrostatic spraying system, insuring complete coverage.
3. Wipe down Active Touch Points with our PerfectClean cloth wipes with anti-microbial protection built in and designed to remove all the germs, bacteria and pathogens inactivated by SNiPER.
4. Treatment with Bio-Protect 500 long-term antimicrobial preventative. This coats the surfaces after the disinfectant is applied providing 90 days or longer of germ and bacteria killing action.
5. Coordination with school janitorial staff for optimal application schedule.
6. Ongoing monitoring of contamination levels as needed.

The cost of the Surface Protection Program is partly offset by reducing outlays for disinfectant and by increasing the efficiency of the janitorial staff. The net cost is typically less than $50 per student per year. Many schools will find that eliminating 1 sick day per student over the year covers the cost of this proactive approach to cross-contamination.
